IMPECCABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
The Gretsch Custom Shop is where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex. No instruments epitomize the extraordinary expertise and attention to detail of Gretsch’s most trusted hands like Custom Shop instruments. From modern versions of legendary Gretsch instruments to artist tribute models and specially requested one-off guitars, the Gretsch Custom Shop takes “That Great Gretsch Sound” to an entirely new plane, but also preserves and perfects it.

This G6134CS 1955 Taos Turquoise Penguin is a reinvisioned recreation of the original Penguin, it has the classic Gretsch sound and feel, but with unbelievably cool aesthetic. The color is Taos Turquoise, accented beautifully by the silver sparkle binding. Don't forget to take note of the how the Gretsch logo on the headstock looks in silver sparkle against the Taos Turquoise color. The nickel hardware matches perfectly. This one has a light Relic, to give it an aged feel - the result is a beautiful guitar with a Southwestern vibe.

It's not just about the look - you'd be hard pressed to find a better playing or sounding Gretsch guitar anywhere. The C shape neck is extremely comfortable. We went with the Ray Butts Full Fidelity FilterTrons at Stern's suggestion, as he felt these are the most authentic sounding pickups to choose from. You get the full clarity and bite expected from FilterTrons, and the treble bleed control allows you to ease up without losing highs.

It's truly a stunning guitar, and one you won't see anywhere else - because it's the only one ever built! Masterbuilder Stephen Stern absolutely nailed it, as he always does.

This is a truly unique take a classic guitar, ready for the stage or studio.
