ABOUT THE YAMANO MUSIC GUITARS

Yamano Music (Yamano Gakki) was a major long-time distributor for Gibson in Japan, especially during the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. Guitars sold through Yamano are often highly regarded by collectors and players.

The Yamano Music Connection

The reputation of "Yamano Gibsons" stems from two main factors:

High Quality Control: The Japanese market is known for its demanding standards for quality, fit, and finish. It is widely believed that Gibson often reserved some of its highest quality woods and paid extra attention to the build quality for the batches destined for the Japanese market through Yamano.

What This Means for this SG

Your SG, made on November 7, 1995, which was a time many refer to as the "Good Wood Era" for Gibson, combined with the Yamano provenance, suggests a guitar of potentially superior quality.
