JHS Pedals Coyote Octave Fuzz

The Fuzz You Don’t Have: A Lost Lineage Reclaimed

Every legendary octave fuzz—from the Octavia to the Super Fuzz—follows a predictable map. The Coyote does not. Based on a "lost" circuit by the reclusive North Carolina builder G.S. Wyllie, The Coyote is a 1:1 replication of the obscure Moonrock Fuzz. Utilizing a transformer in a way the industry has never seen, this pedal doesn't just clip your signal—it reshapes the very physics of your tone.

One Knob. Three Worlds.

The heart of the Coyote is a single, continuous sweep that traverses three distinct sonic landscapes:

  • Swell (Counter-Clockwise): Experience a gated, "reversed-tape" bloom. Notes rise from silence with a breathing attack previously only found in four-figure vintage rarities.
  • Fuzz (Noon): A rich, mids-forward texture that sits comfortably in Tone Bender territory. Perfect for shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and thick, harmonic chords.
  • Octave (Clockwise): A snarling, aggressive octave-up. By pushing second-order harmonics above the fundamental, it delivers the legendary "Greenwich Village" sting.

Technical Features & Strange Magic

  • Unique Transformer Topology: Unlike traditional octave fuzzes, the transformer acts as an inductive element to shape response and dynamic feel.
  • Unmatched Touch Sensitivity: Rare for the category, the Coyote cleans up beautifully with your guitar’s volume knob.
  • Minimalist Control: One knob for the effect sweep, one for master volume.
  • Low Power Consumption: Runs on standard 9VDC at a mere 5mA.

"Glenn Wyllie was an unacknowledged American master. His work graced the stages of Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen, yet his name remained a secret. This is our tribute to the man and the wily circuit he left behind."

Is The Coyote For You?

If your tonal icons include Jimi Hendrix, Jack White, Gary Clark Jr., or the Black Keys, you’ve found your missing link. Whether you are a doom riffer, a blues explorer, or a "fuzz scavenger" looking for a texture that doesn't exist anywhere else—you are the Coyote.

Pro Tips for the Hunt:

  • Placement: Put it first in your signal chain.
  • Interaction: Run it into a slightly overdriven amp for that iconic "saturated" bloom.
  • Sweet Spot: Use your neck pickup above the 12th fret to maximize the octave tracking.
