ABOUT THE 1979 FENDER DELUXE REVERB
Serial Number: A974167 Era: Silverface (Transition Era) Power: 22 Watts
The Last of the Hand-Wired Classics
This is a genuine 1979 Fender Deluxe Reverb, representing the final chapter of Fender’s classic "Silverface" era. Produced just before the shift to modern construction methods in the 1980s, this amp retains the coveted hand-wired eyelet board construction, making it easily serviceable and a true vintage piece at a player-friendly price point.
This specific unit (Serial A974167) is a Late 1979 model, distinguished by the factory-original Line Out jack on the rear panel—a feature only seen during this brief transition period, allowing for direct recording or slaving to another power amp.
The Tone
This amp delivers the quintessential "Fender Clean" sound that defined rock, country, and blues. With 22 watts driven by dual 6V6 power tubes, it offers enough headroom for small clubs but breaks up into a glorious, touch-sensitive overdrive when pushed past 5 on the volume dial.
The "Pull Boost": Features the era-correct Volume knob with the "Pull Boost" function. (Pro Tip: Keep the boost pushed in for the traditional sparkling Blackface-style clean tones, or pull it for the gritty, raw snarl specific to late-70s punk and garage rock).
Reverb & Tremolo: Features the legendary tube-driven spring reverb and opto-coupler vibrato (tremolo) that reissues try to replicate but rarely equal.
