The Minibar is unlike any guitar pedal ever made. A liquid analyser stompbox from Rainger FX, it makes no sound at all until you pour a liquid into its watertight onboard container — and then the properties of that liquid determine your tone. Conductivity shapes the gain and distortion. Opacity controls the treble and bass. What you pour is entirely up to you.
Water gives one result. Coffee gives another. A mix of your own invention gives something no one has ever heard before. The Minibar turns tone-shaping into a tactile, experimental act — screw the lid on tight and you're ready to play. Wipe it out with a paper towel and start again whenever inspiration strikes.
How It Works
The guitar's electrical signal passes through the fluid in the container. The conductivity of the liquid determines the amount of gain — more conductive, more drive. The opacity (how much light passes through) shapes the treble and bass response. The result is often a satisfying band-pass tone: uncompressed, harmonically rich, with a natural plectrum 'cluck' that feels alive under your fingers.
The pedal ships with no liquid inside — silent until you do your part. That's the point. It's an invitation to experiment.
